1. If you did not take Chinese 101, you will need to purchase the e-textbook (see below). No “used” copy or hard copy for this required e-Text. Purchase it only after you are confirmed that 102 is at your level and you will take the course.

1. Based on the Self-Intro samples, compose your own, and share a Google Doc: 102HW1_名字with perry@pugetsound.edu and hwang@pugetsound.edu Draft due this Friday
2. Select a frame and work on your own self intro (design and add content)

Early birds to present on Monday
a. use images, characters, key words with Pinyin, graphics, handwriting
b. use the board as a guide to your presentation; do not copy entire paragraph with annotation

d. presentation will be given in class, live, and about 2 minutes

Prepare for in-class presentations on next Wednesday
Each student will be given two minutes using Jamboard as visual aids for a speaking presentation

To-do List by the end of Week 1:

o    Purchase Integrated Chinese 1, Traditional 4E, FluencyLink Student Account 6 month (required if you did not take Chin 101 last semester), purchase online and set up your account. It includes e-textbook, e-workbook, audio feedback, and character workbook in PDF and other exercises. The cost is $78.99.

o    Make sure you can access all online resource pages and tools. If not, try another browser and/or update your browser.

o    Install Skritter APP on your phone and join the classroom. Email Prof. Perry for access code is you did not take Chinese 101 last semester.

 

Tips on Studying Chinese:

o    Read and follow course schedule closely and keep track of homework deadlines and quiz schedule.

o    Use class time as STUDY time! Eliminate possible distraction during class time to allow your full and attentive participation.

o    Work on course material DAILY for about 30 minutes.

o    Make sure all the required online tools and mobile apps work for you. Ask for help ASAP if you need tech support.

 

Course goal and approach:

o    Check What 102 Student Can Do to see what you are expected to learn and use the language in this course.

o    This course is hoping to use various approaches to train students to be Comprehension-based Learning.
