![]() Spiraea douglasii HARDHACK Rosaceae Hardhack is an erect, branched shrub to 2 m tall that generally forms thickets on wet sites at low to middle elevations. The young branches are reddish-brown and wooly. The leaves are alternate, deciduous, oval, toothed around the upper half, green above and grey-wooly beneath. The flowers are pink to deep rose, tiny (5 mm), numerous in erect plumes at the tips of the branches. The fruits are clusters of several small follicles that remain erect on the plant throughout the winter. |
