 Rosa nutkana NOOTKA ROSE Rosaceae Nootka rose is a spindly shrub up to 3 m tall with a pair of large straight prickles at each node. The leaves are alternate, deciduous, and pinnately compound with 5-7 coarsely toothed leaflets. The flowers are pink, large (4-8 cm in diameter), and borne single at the branch tips. The fruits ("hips") are 1-2 cm across, purplish-red, and round. Nootka rose grows in open habitats such as meadows, thickets, and roadsides at low to middle elevations. |
