CASCADE BLUEBERRY

Ericaceae

Cascade blueberry is a very short (up to 30 cm) shrub with oval deciduous leaves that are toothed above the middle and have a whitish bloom on the undersides. The pinkish flowers are urn-shaped and nearly round in profile. The berries are black, 6-8 mm in diameter, and have a glaucous bloom. Cascade blueberry is very common at subalpine elevations. In fall, subalpine meadows are colored dark red by the senescing leaves of this plant.
