Berberis aquifolium

TALL OREGON GRAPE

Berberidaceae

Oregon grape is a stiffly erect woody perennial that can reach 1-3 m in height. Its pinnately compound leaves are divided into 5-9 spiny, dark green leaflets that are glossy on the upper surface. The flowers are yellow, on dense, short racemes. Oregon grape grows commonly on rather dry open, often disturbed sites at low to middle elevations.
