Jason’s tips on video filming:

Subject: Reports for video recording

Hi 老師,

Here are a few points that I wanted to let you as well as anyone else know about my video recording experience.

1. The room is REALLY hot because of all the computers that are running in there and the really small room. It gets quite uncomfortable in there, but I got used to it eventually.

2. There were complications with the camcorder. It did some weird things like, turned the frames into black and white, started to zoom in and out, and started using wide-angle and narrow-angle settings. It would go in a certain order, first with the wide/narrow settings, then zooming in and out. I suggest to manually zoom out of the camera if there is a problem. If you just play with the camera's zoom, the camera stops acting weird.

3. I highly recommend to record all in one sitting because editing the video is time consuming and the end result of the video does not look professional and it just looks messy. That means you really have to know your essay to pull it off.

4. I made a PowerPoint on my laptop and put it behind the camera so i can read the lines that I forget. that way, I can still have eye contact with the lens. It was quite effective, but again, total memorization of the essay would be the best.

5. The majority of the time in the room was spent on trying to fix the camera and having it stop being all crazy. Another part that invested a lot of my time was trying to edit my video. I ended up doing it all in one sitting.

I hope this helps you out! Please ask me any questions, and I will try to answer them.
