4. 拒绝和强劝的时候
中国人对于对方的邀请或赠送的礼物,常要客气一番或推辞,如“下次再去”“你自已用吧”以表示歉逊客气。而邀请者或送方则再三劝对方接受,如“你一定要来,
我们等你。”“你不收是不给我面子”等等,以表示自已的真诚。    
5. 批评的时候
中国人历来以和为贵,对已严而待人宽。因此在批评别人时一般用此较委婉的话语,如“似乎”“恐怕”(似乎一般,恐怕不太合理),以此冲淡批评的分量,或暗示对方的缺点,使对方易于接受。
6. 暗示和找借口的时候
中国人含蓄、处事平和、不愿干扰或为难对方,因而常用暗示语。如客人在看望、拜访主人结束时,常以照顾主人休息为托辞,表示自已想离去的意思。如“你很忙,不打搅你了”、“你早点儿休息”等等。向上级或领导提出要求,得到“研究、研究”、“考虑、考虑”的说法,有时是一种托词,为的是顾及提要求人的面子或心理,而听话者应该自已体会其中含意。

Chinese Voices Project: Choose one of the podcast article: 1) listen and read  2) identify at least 20 vocabulary items 3) be able to comprehend the text and re-podcast using your own words.

7.  A City on the Move (1.1 / 383) Joanna Hsu Text | Audio | Read and Hear  Getting around in Beijing is becoming a bit easier and more pleasant these days, with newly opened subway lines, fewer billboards, and better manners among drivers.
