1. Cell Phones in the Classroom (1.0 / 488) Joanna Hsu Text | Audio | Read and Hear Chinese parents buy their kids cell phones for safety and convenience. But teachers find them a serious distraction, and some schools are banning them outright.
2. Beijing's Disappearing Neighborhoods (1.1 / 370) Joanna Hsu Text | Audio | Read and Hear The narrow alleyways and courtyard houses of Beijing's hutongs have been a characteristic feature of the city since the Yuan dynasty. They're being bulldozed aside now to make room for a more modern but perhaps less colorful capital.
3. In Pursuit of the Perfect Face (1.2 / 312) Chun Juan  Text | Audio | Read and Hear Judging from the number of newspaper ads, plastic surgery is all the rage among the new rich in Chinese cities. It's still got a stigma attached to it, though, making it one of the few forms of luxury consumption you won't hear them bragging about.
