Weekly Discussion and Practice Sessions:

1.        These sessions start on Week 2 (if possible, if not Week 3). Please check your schedule and share your availability.

2.        During those weeks when discussions do NOT meet, each student will schedule a 30-min individual oral proficiency interview with Wang Laoshi. You will schedule these practice interviews later.

1.        If you did not take Chinese 201, you will need to purchase the e-textbook (see below). No “used” copy or hard copy for this required e-Text.

§   Install Skritter APP on your phone and join the classroom. Email Prof. Perry for Access Code if you did not take 201 last semester.

§   Read through Course Syllabus and be sure that you are clear on attendance policy and other goals of this course.

 

Tips on Studying Chinese:

§   Read and follow course schedule closely and keep track of homework deadlines and quiz schedule.

§   Use class time as STUDY time! Eliminate possible distraction during class time to allow your full and attentive participation.

§   Work on course material DAILY for at least 30-60 minutes.

§   Make sure all the required online tools and mobile apps work for you. Ask for help ASAP if you need tech support.

§   Allow yourself plenty of time to LISTEN (use the audio in the textbook Web APP and also listen to Sun Laoshi’s Grammar Video)

§   When working on HW1 Part C, use the vocabulary and patterns we have been learning! Google new words if necessary, but be smart about it!
DO NOT GOOGLE TRANSLATE ENTIRE SENTENCES OR A COMPLETE PARAGRAPH!!!
