Speaking sessions start Week 3

Attend Tacoma Moon Festival in lieu of Monday (9/15) class:
Class on Monday, Sept. 15 is cancelled. Instead, please complete one or both of the following:
1.
Volunteer at the Tacoma Moon Festival (Sept. 11–13). Volunteer opportunities are available Thursday, Friday, and during the festival on Saturday.
2.
Attend the Festival on Saturday, Sept. 13 as a participant.

This is an immersion opportunity to experience a community-based cultural event. You might: watch mainstage performances, join a tea tasting at the Ting, take or lead a history tour, try a mooncake, or interact with festival-goers from diverse heritage backgrounds. Bring a friend or arrange a ride with a classmate!

If you cannot attend, please speak with Prof. Perry. In that case, choose one of these alternatives:
1. Visit the
online National Museum of Asian Art and submit notes and a reflection.
2. Watch
The Impossible Chinese Typewriter on YouTube and write a summary.

Tips on Studying Chinese:

§   Read and follow course schedule closely and keep track of homework deadlines and quiz schedule.

§   Use class time as STUDY time! Eliminate possible distraction during class time to allow your full and attentive participation.

§   Work on course material DAILY for about 30 minutes.

§   Make sure all the required online tools and mobile apps work for you. Ask for help ASAP if you need tech support.
