Leptarrhena pyrolifolia

LEATHERLEAF-SAXIFRAGE

Saxifragaceae

Leatherleaf saxifrage is a perennial with a basal rosette of tough, glossy, oblong, evergreen leaves out of which arises a flowering stem, 20-40 cm tall, with 1 or 2 small leaves about midway. The flowers are small and white in a tight cluster at the tip of the stem. The stem and fruits are generally red. Leatherleaf-saxifrage is common on streambanks, seepage areas, and wet meadows at middle to high elevations.
