Heart-leaved spring-beauty is a dainty wildflower that is common along streambanks in shady rich forests at low to middle elevations throughout the spring. It has 5 white petals and no bracts along the flowering stem. The flowers have two sepals and the basal leaves as well as the two opposite leaves below the flowers are heart-shaped.
