Goodyera oblongifolia RATTLESNAKE PLANTAIN
Rattlesnake plantain is our most common orchid in western Washington. The basal leaves are evergreen, usually mottled with white, and are commonly seen in the mesic to dry forest understory. Unlike the orchid flowers of the tropics, our terrestrial temperate zone orchids generally have small unassuming flowers. The flowers of rattlesnake plantain are white, bilaterally symmetric, and often point to one side of the stem.
