Western trillium is a striking, low (to 45 cm tall) herbaceous perennial. The broad leaves are in a whorl of 3 just below the single flower. The flower is stalked, white (but turns pink with age), with 3 green sepals and 3 white petals. Western trillium is common in moist to wet woods, streambanks, and shaded openings at low to middle elevations.
