Wild lily-of-the-valley is a low-growing(10-40 cm) herbaceous perennial. It has 1-3 alternate, glossy, long-stalked ,and broadly heart-shaped leaves with obvious parallel veins. The flowers are small and white in terminal cylindric clusters. Unlike any other member of the local Liliaceae, wild lily-of-the-valley has its flower parts in 4's: 4 tepals, 4 stamens, but a 2-parted ovary. Wild lily-of-the-valley is common in moist to wet, shady woods and streambanks at low to middle elelvations.
