Tiger lily is an herbaceous perennial that grows to 1.2 m tall. It has slender, lance-shaped leaves arranged in whorls of 6-9. The showy nodding flowers are bright orange with deep red or purple spots near the center and recurved petals. Tiger lily is fairly common in meadows, forest edges, and open forest at low to subalpine elevations.
