HOOKER'S FAIRY-BELLS Hooker's fairy-bells is an herbaceous perennial with erect, sparingly branched stems usually reaching 60-70 cm tall. The leaves are alternate, broadly lance-shaped, clasping at the base, 5-12 cm long, and fringed with short hairs at the margins. The flowers are white, pendent, bells, usually in pairs at the tip of the stem, with petals spreading to reveal the stamens. Hooker's fairy-bells is frequent in moist coniferous or mixed forests at low elevations (below about 3000'). |
