Chickweed is a very low, creeping, annual, European weed, very common in gardens and other disturbed areas at low elevations. The stems have rows of short hairs along their length. The leaves are opposite and spoon-shaped. The flowers are tiny with 5 white bilobed petals. In western Washington, chickweed is abundant and flowers all winter, but generally disappears during the summer drought.
