   Aislinn A. Melchior
    Assistant Professor of Classics
    University of Puget Sound

I completed my PhD in Classical Studies at the University of Pennsylvania in the spring 2004 and I have been in Tacoma, teaching at the University of Puget Sound since August of the same year.  My research is focused on the first century BCE in Rome and the violence surrounding the fall of the Republic.  I am especially interested in written         violence and its rhetorical function both in exemplarity and exhortation.  During the             school year 2007-2008 I will be on sabbatical to work on a book on these topics.

Office Hours: By appointment.  I can most easily be reached by email during my                 sabbatical.  Please write to me at amelchior AT ups.edu.

If you would like me to write a recommendation for you, please read the following                 information.  I have included a page on reference etiquette that was written by another         professor (for those of you who have never had to navigate this process) as well as my         own requirements.
